THE  TEXAS  BARBEQUE  BASTING  LOOP

The Texas Barbeque Basting Loop is an original design.   A simple and elegant tool used for basting quickly and cleanly.    It features a disposable mop head so you don't have to spend time trying to clean brush bristles or mop strands,  which is pretty much impossible anyway.    This baster works better than any mop,  brush, or squeeze bottle I've ever used.   You just tie a piece of bar towel,  cheesecloth,  or paper towel around the spreader loop,  then discard the cloth when you're done.   They're made in 11,  12,  15,  18,  24,  and 30 inch lengths.    Click here to see how it is used.    Or click the picture for close-up details.   Clean bar towels can be purchased at any wholesale club or restaurant supply house for pennies.    Cleaning is a snap,  just wash the loop in mild soap and water.   There are no crevices or bristles to harbor soap or old sauce!   I've filed patent documents on this one.     $15 for the 11,  12,  15,  and 18 inch backyard size loops made from 1/4 inch square solid steel bar stock (shown).    $29 for the 24 and 30 inch long BIG PIT loops made from 3/8 inch bar stock.    All loops come with two towels and some cooking twine to get you started.

The basting loop is also available in 316 stainless steel.    Dishwasher safe and perfect for commercial use.    Not as much character but it's easier to clean and doesn't need to be seasoned.    $29 for the 1/4 inch bar stock loops,  $59 for the big 3/8 inch stock loops.    Yes,  stainless stock is much more expensive,  much harder to work at the forge,  and much,  much harder to finish properly.

SPOONS

My big spoons were designed to stir LARGE pots of chili,  beans,  sauce,  or what-have-you without bending while making you look like a force to be reckoned with.    The overall length of this spoon is about two and a half feet,  but I can make a spoon any length you like.    I start with 3/8 by 1-1/4 inch solid steel bar stock and draw it to about 3/8 inch square at the business end.    That's a lot of hammering!    The twists are made,  then the handle is shaped into a beautiful but functional loop for hanging.    The bowl is cut from 12 gauge steel flat stock,  feathered to an edge on the forward end,  and hammered into the bowl shape.    The handle is gas welded onto the bowl,  then the weld is filed smooth by hand.    The forge slag is stripped off and the spoon is seasoned by coating it with cooking oil and baking it in my smoker for an hour or so over an oak fire.    It takes me nearly a full day to make each one.    Click on the picture to see close up details.    $100.00.    Simpler spoons can be made for less,  call or email me and we can talk about it.

I make smaller serving spoons and ladles as well,  and will have pictures available soon.    Prices are about $30 - $100 depending on how fancy you want them.

FORKS

The straight-tined fork is good for general meat and veggie handling on the smoker.    I make my forks from a single piece of 3/8 inch solid steel bar stock.    There is no welding and the tines are hand filed.    This one is about 25 inches long.    $35.

The carving fork has slightly curved tines to make serving up your prize BBQ a real pleasure.    The loop is simpler to make than the example on the straight-tined fork.    This fork is 15 inches long.    $30.

The long hooked fork is great for large pits.    Allows one-handed handling of your BBQ at a safe distance from the smoke,  or deep into the interior.    Use two hands for large cuts of meat with  extra torque provided by the knob.    This one is 36 inches long.    $45.

I can make any of my forks in any length and with any style tine or loop without extra charge for custom specifications.    Each piece is already a custom work of art.    Prices are based on how long it takes me to make each one.    Call or email me with your specifications.

Dimensions of the tools are approximate,  since each one is hand made.   There will be some variations in the style and shape and there will be hammer marks, making each piece unique.
