To push logs, place either tang or both tangs of the tine on the log and push.
It is better to push at the bottom if you want the log to
slide rather than roll over.
Drag logs toward you with the hook tang.
Twigs and brush are easy to move about with either the hook tang or the area
between the tangs.
You can pick up and move logs by balancing. Insert the small tang
under the log either side of center, then twist the hook tang away from center until it rests on top.
The small tang supports the log while the hook tang prevents it from flipping
off. Grip the handle loop firmly for this technique.
Hold the haft at an angle at or below horizontal or the log will fall out.
Roll logs by inserting the small tang under the log and rotating away from you like a can opener.
Or you can grab the top of the log with the hook and roll toward you.

The hook is very handy for moving pots around the fire.
It can be used to retrieve grills and other objects from the fire as well.
The hook easily handles lids on Dutch ovens.
Large pots can be pushed or pulled around on a grill. When
pulling, hold the Fire Duck at an angle above horizontal and hook the handle,
rather than the lip, or the pot may tip over.
When pushing, push from the bottom or the pot may tip over.
