TEXAS-BARBEQUE - GENUINE SLOW SMOKIN'

USING THE TEXAS BARBEQUE BASTING LOOP

Click here to see how to use the BIG PIT basting loops.

Basting Loop components

The components of the backyard BBQ size basting loop:

1/4 of a bar towel, a foot of cooking twine, and the 15 inch basting loop.

For one of the big pit basting loops, use a whole bar towel and fold it in half or quarters.

Wrap the towel

Wrap the towel loosely over the spreader loop end.

Pull the corners

Pull the four corners down around the haft.

Wrap the string

Stretch the towel down and wrap two loops of string around the four corners and the haft.    You may use twist-ties or any fastening device you can think of.

Tie the corners

Tie the string securely.

Snip the loose ends

Snip the ends of the string, leaving about an inch.

Push the corners to the loop bottom

Push the tied corners up against the loop bottom so that the mop is relatively loose.

Start basting!

Mop transfers a large amount of sauce

The mop will transfer a large amount of sauce with each dip, allowing you to baste quickly.

Cut the string

When you're done, just cut the string or twist-tie.

Discard the mop

The mop is easily discarded.
Just wash the iron loops with a little mild soap and water and dry.
There are no hard-to-clean crevices or fibers to harbor soap or old meat juices for the next time.     Stainless steel loops can be washed in the dishwasher.
